White Lightning

White Lightning 1989

By the end of the 1980's the 60 series was struggling against the coil sprung Nissan GQ Patrol. The 80 series Landcruiser was still 18 months away and in an effort to boost sales Toyota introduced the 'White Lightning' model. It was available in 1989 only. There were only 150 made and each were numbered on a plaque on the centre of the dash. As the name suggests the theme behind the model was that it was white. The White Lightning was a GX model loaded with extra features including a number of white accessories which gave it very distinct looks. It was available in both the FJ62 and HJ61 models and sat between the GXL and Sahara in the 60 series stable.
